ALL STUDENTS

Majorelle Beauty Academy’s admission policies require that each admitted student meet all of the following:

  • Proof that the student is beyond compulsory school attendance in Washington State.
  • Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
  • Photo Identification.
  • High School diploma or equivalent if homeschooled, have a state-issued credential for secondary school completion.
  • Complete the Majorelle Beauty Academy enrollment application.

To become an instructor trainee, Washington State requires the applicant to:

  • Be at least 17 years old
  • Hold a current Washington state license in one or more of the following areas: Cosmetology, Manicuring, and Esthetics.

TRANSFER STUDENTS

  • The applicant who has prior training in cosmetology only and wishes to complete training in our school must first fulfill the admission requirements above. In addition, the student who transfers within the state must submit a valid transcript of hours and grades, prior to beginning school.
  • Transcripts will not be accepted after you have enrolled unless noted in the contract.
  • This school does not recruit students who are currently registered, enrolled, or attending another school.
  • Students from out of state who move to Washington are not eligible for transfer hours.
  • Previous hours and operations for said transfer student may be accepted as approved by this school and appropriate credit shall be given.

Financials/Payment options:

-Self pay, Pre-Pay tutiton (discount is provided), Monthly payments (cost divided depending on course program).

-Applicants will pay a registration fee as part of the application. *Non-refundable.

-Monthly payment is due every last day of the month. *Late fees are applicable.

-Books/Student kits are non-refundable.

-Additional time following the contract end date will be charged a contract fee of $15 per hour.

COSMETOLOGY

1,600 HOURS

The Cosmetology course trains students to service all hair types, which include cutting, styling, coloring, waving, relaxing, and artificial hair. You also learn the basic state-required skills for manicuring and pedicuring, aesthetics, sanitizing, and sterilizing equipment. The program will prepare students for an entry-level position in the salon industry.

THE STUDY AND APPLICATION OF BEAUTY TREATMENT.

The Washington State Board of Cosmetology requires completing 1600 hours of training to qualify graduates to apply for the Washington State licensing examination for Cosmetology. Students begin with classroom theory and practical sessions. Cosmetology is taught mainly through lectures, demonstrations, visual aid, practice, and on occasion, guest speakers.

ESTHETICS

750 HOURS

The Aesthetics course trains students in related theory and practice for an array of skin care services, including facial, makeup, and temporary hair removal (wax). In addition, students will learn the basic state-required skills for sanitizing and sterilizing equipment. The program will prepare students for an entry-level position in the spa industry.

THE SCIENCE OF BEAUTY

The esthetics industry has exploded in recent years. Get in on this progressive and sophisticated career. Taught in both a classroom and public clinic setting, our program allows for a wide variety of experiences not always found in a typical school setting. Students will learn the skills necessary to become successful facial and bodywork Estheticians and Make-Up Artists. The program is designed to prepare the student for the professional licensing requirements of the Washington State Board Esthetics Exam.

*No more than 25% of skills training use mannequins.

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS:

The Washington State Board of Cosmetology requires the completion of 750 hours of training to qualify graduates to apply for the Washington State licensing examination for Esthetics. Students begin with classroom theory and practical sessions. Laboratory/Clinic and practical assignments are graded using a Consultation Work Sheet. Esthetics is taught mainly through lectures, demonstrations, visual aid, practice, and on occasion, guest speakers.

NAIL SHAPING, PAINTING, AND TREATMENT

The Manicuring program is designed to train the serious-minded student to work as an active member of the manicuring world. Our “hands-on”, oriented program provides the student with all the background and knowledge necessary to pass the Washington State Board Exam. Our ultimate goal is to create highly trained, professional nail technicians for this growing industry.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

  • Train Students in all phases of manicuring.
  • Prepare the Students for the State Board exam and employment in the manicuring field. To teach good work, study, health, and safety habits.
  • Majorelle Beauty Academy promotes goal setting, a positive approach to career planning, self-motivation, and ethics.
  • We encourage Students to continue their education, in advanced related courses, including business courses, and we inspire our students to consider starting and operating their own businesses.

Barbering

Program Description:  This program focuses on the theory and application of men’s cuts and style, skin/scalp care, and facial shaves/grooming. Students will have the opportunity for hands-on practice in a safe and encouraging classroom environment with professional supervision.

Master Esthetics

INSTRUCTOR

500 HOURS

The Instructor course trains pre-licensed students in theory and practice for planning methods and classroom/clinic management. This will include learning how to understand the curriculum delivery process, understanding student learning styles, utilizing methods of instruction, recognizing obstacles to learning and applying communication skills along with time management. And most importantly managing a learning environment that is both fun and safe!

EFFECTIVE TEACHING METHODS

The educational objective of this course is to prepare the trainee to teach effectively all phases of cosmetology and manicuring and esthetician. This course will help the student develop the ability to teach related information, manipulative operations, and techniques. Students will learn how to use various teaching aids such as instruction sheets, visual aids, and tests. To teach leadership, Student Motivation, Student grading and counseling, class preparation, objective and lesson plan writing, and goal setting. Students will develop an appreciation of the necessity for constant effort towards the achievement of professional competency as a teacher and personal characteristics that contribute to success in teaching.

SKILLS TO BE DEVELOPED:

Occupational experiences and personal characteristics that will upgrade the cosmetology profession by producing quality students; Develop lesson plans, outlines, procedures and tests that will insure student comprehension and will instill the will to learn in even the most difficult student; Development of a course content reflecting a comprehensive, correlated unit of study; Development of Instructional materials that will facilitate set-up and preparation of class; Development of supplemental teaching aids that will give the student a variety of ideas from which to draw and maintain motivation. You will prepare the student for employment in their fields, teaching the Students good work, study, health and safety habits. You will teach ethical, business, and legal aspects of their profession. You will assist Students in job placement. You will teach how to work with related agencies in our field. This course requires a state license to be employed. All Students shall have completed the specified minimum required hours and operations upon completion of the five hundred (500) hour course.

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS:

The Washington State Board of Cosmetology requires the completion of 500 hours of training to qualify graduates to apply for the Washington State licensing examination for Instructor. Students begin with observation of classroom theory and practical sessions. The instructor course is taught mainly through demonstration and practice.

We also do preparation training for State board practical examinations. This includes the kit and step-by-step training for cosmetology, esthetics, manicure, and instructor. This costs $500.00 and the course takes three days.
